The Blizzard Sundance Eagles

At the beginning of my first sun-dance the sun-dance chief spoke and welcomed us. He said our helpers were coming. He spoke of the wolf ceremony, and the two brothers, and the one who went to live and mourn with the wolves. He said for those of us who lost our parents to call on them. That they were coming. And so, I did. The thunder cracked and the thunderbirds came. Uncle, in the sky  started to move his stones and create a new sculpture for me. Two eagles, a wolf, and 5 bison skulls.

I did the wolf ceremony, the bison ceremony, the fire ceremony. The memory of these ceremonies you can see in the subtle figures throughout the sky. The two eagles represent ancestors of my partner and I. The colored cloth represents the members of our blizzard sun-dance ceremony. Our sun-dance

It was my partner, and now wife who invited me to sun-dance. At almost 50 years of age, our similar paths would bring us together as a gift of healing as we move forward on our journey. It was her that brought me two red rings from her previous sun-dance year that you see throughout this series. Her sage and prayers, wrapped for me to honor.
